The current edition of the Summer School takes place in Bosa, and hosts the “BNSG International Young Artist Urban Workshop”, focused on a contemporary art approach in redesigning urban places.
Il progetto BNSG nasce nel 2004 per promuovere gli artisti sardi nel mondo e nello specifico Usa e Giappone, nonché lo scambio culturale tra giovani artisti delle accademie internazionali e il territorio isolano coi suoi studenti, ma si trasforma ben presto in occasione di ricerca da parte di gruppi scelti di giovani artisti delle accademie statunitensi e nipponiche verso un possibile mutamento della percezione dei luoghi visitati attraverso loro interpretazione artistica.
The BNSG project started in 2004, to promote a larger diffusion of the most important Sardinian artists, and the cultural exchange among younger artists coming not only from Sardinia, but also fromUnited States and Japan.These groups of young artists have devoted their research to the mutations in perceiving territories and places, and in their artistic interpretation.
E’ così che sin dalla sua prima edizione si concepisce l’intervento di riqualificazione di Piazza Sa Itria in Orani. Dell’anno successivo è l’intervento di installazioni urbane presso piazza Su Cuzzone in Nuoro.Del 2006 è il workshop sotto la direzione di Maria Lai per la progettazione di una performance collettiva itinerante, presso la Stazione Dell’arte ad Ulassai.
In this direction was oriented the first edition of the workshop, in 2004, dedicated to rethinking and redesigning Piazza Sa Itria in Orani.During the second edition, in 2005, a collective artistic performance has redesigned Piazza Su Cuzzone in the town of Nuoro.
The third and last edition, in 2006, was an “International Itinerant Collective Performance Workshop” led by the great Sardinian artist Maria Lai, that took place in her native village - Ulassai-, inside the “Stazione dell’Arte” Foundation.
Dal 2007 il progetto di laboratorio urbano dei giovani artisti internazionali intende misurarsi coi giovani studenti della facoltà di architettura di Alghero, al fine di indagare le reali possibilità per una collaborazione verso una riqualificazione urbana – tramite intervento artistico – progettuale presso la città di Bosa.
In 2007 the workshop will take place in Bosa, and will involve not only Japanese and new Yorker artists, but also students coming from the School of Architecture of Alghero, to research the cooperation possibilities for an urban project that involves an artistic intervention.
Il gruppo sarà costituito da 10 studenti (max) di cui buona parte artisti provenienti dalle accademie newyorkesi e dalle università giapponesi. Il loro compito sarà quello di ideare una installazione/scenografia urbana all’interno dell’antico tessuto della ridente cittadina, rifacendosi direttamente ai materiali e metodi di lavorazione tipici della tradizione del luogo, attraverso una rivisitazione dovuta alla formazione artistico culturale di partenza, al fine di creare “elementi capaci di connettere le parti, costruire un racconto che si snodi tra gli edifici, offrire paesaggi capaci di accogliere nuove identità”.
The workgroup will be formed by 10 students, coming from American and Japanese Academies and Schools of Fine Arts) or students from the School of Architecture of Alghero. Their mission will be the construction of an “urban scenography” inside the ancient town of Bosa: using local typical materials and handicraft products to re-interpret the places, through their cultural and artistic backgrounds, students and artists will create “elements to connect the parts, to compose a story that can be told walking around the buildings, to offer new landscapes that welcome new identities”…
